A few more pics from the recent trip to Brasil. The guys and I were lucky enough to travel to Rio while our boss met with Romario, to organise his support for our game. We stayed for three days and two nights. Rio is an amazingly beautiful city, I must go back some day.
Firstly, we went to the Corcovado to see the Cristo Redentor.

That night we also had the opportunity to go to a football match at Maracana stadium. We saw locals Flamengo thump Coritiba 5-0.
Here are some views from the hotel balcony, we stayed right on Copacabana beach.

The beaches are split into sections by the lifeguard towers. Number 9 is a famous tower on Ipanema beach where celebrities and soccer players go to hang out. Our hotel was right near number 5.

You probably know John Hodgman from his appearance in the Mac vs. PC ads and on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He also has a couple of books, The Areas of My Expertise and More Information Than You Require. I thought I’d post about him appearing on the You Look Nice Today podcast, funny stuff.

The race on Sunday was great, the weather wasn’t blazing hot like Saturday and the day was full of motorsport to keep things interesting. The crowd was so large that if we had left our seats, we wouldn’t have got them back.

Maserati Trofeo
The Porsche Super Cup cars are a favourite of mine, but the Maserati’s sounded good and had some close racing.

Before long the track cleared and the drivers appeared for the parade lap.

As well as having the back straight right in front of us, we could look across the natural amphitheatre of Interlagos to see several corners in the infield of the circuit.

Exit of Pinheirinho and the Pato Cotovelo corner
The warmup lap was a good opportunity to take some photos while the cars were travelling at low speed.

I was fortunate enough to go to the Formula 1 GP at Interlagos, São Paulo, Brazil. It was a great race that decided the 2008 drivers championship. Here are a couple of photos from Saturday qualifying.

My main man, Mark Webber.

Interlagos Circuit, Reta Oposa (Back Straight)
From our seats we could see the cars exit the Senna S on the left, accelerate past from left to right, then brake for the Descida do Logo corner beneath the blue grandstand on the right. It proved a good place to witness the howl of the engines under full load.
I’ll post a few more pics of the race on Sunday soon.

Please bear with me for a moment, I’m trying to get my 120 blog back up and running.
Update: Phew, that was reasonably easy. All I did wrong was delete the images.

I got a digital camera over the christmas break and have started getting familiar with how to use it. I’ve come across a few sites with some good information:

And a gallery of beautiful shots:
